Understandable because the film is based on the eponymous popular winter book, in which three authors bring a short story. Each with their own love-life-related-issues. Only now, the protagonists are all teenagers. An entanglement of different storylines that come together in an ecstatic crescendo. And “ Let it snow” uses the same concept as “ Love actually“. For me, it causes an extreme form of explosive diarrhea every time I see the grin of Hugh Grant on the screen. Perhaps the film adds that extra magic for some of us, during these winter holidays. “ Love actually” is a typical film that is shown on different television channels during the Christmas season. If, like me, you dislike “ Love actually“, I would definitely advise you to avoid this youthly version. Oh no, the younger version of “Love actually”. Unfortunately, “ Let it snow” won’t be mentioned often, I guess. And yes, on Twitter the annually recurring question “ What’s the ultimate Christmas film?“, appears again. And an additional phenomenon during these holidays is the broadcasting of well-known Christmas movies. If you have a moderate maritime climate, such as in Belgium, it’ll be drizzly and autumnal. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case everywhere. And everyone hopes that on this Christian holiday the sky will be filled with pregnant snow clouds that’ll cover the surface of the earth with a soft, downy snow carpet. Christmas trees full of sparkling baubles, angel hair and soft-yellow LED lights. A brown-baked turkey with a tasty filling that was squeezed through its smallest hole. Still, Let It Snow is one of Sigler's best LPs.And sometimes it’s not just the eve of Christmas,Ĭhristmas. Oddly, his cover of Herb Alpert's 1979 pop hit was never released. On some copies of Let It Snow you'll see a song listing for "Rise," but you won't find the track on the actual record. The multi-talented Philly soul veteran's brother, Jimmy Sigler, wrote the sparse, organ-laced, balladic single, "How Can I Tell Her It's Over." The album closer, the explosive, extremely hyper "Slow Down," reflects Sigler's agony while trying to keep up with his wayward woman. The snappy, joyous "Since the Day I First Saw You" is one of the most engaging tracks he has ever done. Sigler and Instant Funk sounded like they had a lot of fun recording this jam. "Dis Away Dat Away" thumps along with a gonging electronic beat, shimmying funky rhythm guitar breaks, and kazoos (yes, kazoos, as on his Let Me Party With You LP). "Girl You're Driving Me Crazy" skates along on a hi-hat, a sense of wacky humor, and a great horn and string arrangement by Lenny Pakula. The track became a steppers standard, so copies of Let It Snow maybe extremely hard to find. The first single, "Super Duper Super Man," has great cartoonish sound effects and the chant: "I don't like Kryptonite/ but I like Lois Lane and some serious tympani rolls." The snap-laced, quiet storm-ish title track - not the holiday standard - seductively swirls around in a frosty mix of echoing "oohs" and lazy don't-give-a-darn guitar lines. Bunny Sigler let his fertile, prolific imagination run wild for his final Salsoul album, Let It Snow, issued in June 1980 with the end results being fun, funny, and funky.
